Bits and bytes, quarks and bosons,
Silverfish and black rhododendrons,
Just last night I saw monarch butterflies
Fragile flutter over thousands of miles.
And I wonder if this world has so many miracles to see
Imagine what the worlds beyond will be?
Crystal sharp air that hurts as you breathe
Chance met friend who changes how you feel
A child who once couldn’t tie her own shoe lace
Now is the one calmly offering real solace.
And I know if this world could prove good was real
Imagine what the worlds beyond will be?
A physicist’s dream, an artist’s fantasy,
A thousand, nay a million, billion alternate realities
As you step through a door, leave behind the world you know,
Give the magic of the universe a simple chance to show.
And I have faith, even in this battered heart I believe
Something better, something higher, the worlds beyond will be.
