I am loved, they tell me, like no one ever was,
I am good, apparently, with the purest of hearts
But but but my words, they say, and yes, my attitude
Too much, too many, too loud, and too confused.
I gather my shreds, my shards, my shame
And lift up my chin, square my shoulders and then
I say I’m me, and this, right here, is where I’ll be,
I need no love, no friendships, no sympathy.
And yes I’ve bared my heart to you
And yes, I’ve stood on these cross roads.
I will not beg, and I will not explain any more
I’m ready, I’m able, I’m willing to walk alone.
